Lexington suspends paper recycling

The Lexington Recycle Center is not accepting paper products such as office paper, newspaper, magazines and cereal boxes until further notice. Please throw these items in your trash. The center will continue to take dry cardboard, like moving and shipping boxes.

This change affects both city and private collection. The temporary suspension is due to lack of a reliable market for paper. The center doesn’t have anywhere to send paper for recycling. Lexington is actively pursuing options and will encourage residents to recycle paper again when a reliable outlet is in place.

Visit www.LexingtonKY.gov/RecycleUpdates for updated flyers, tips on reducing your paper use and the most current information on the center.
